Wandering around Paris during Fashion Week, I didn’t think I would run into a young and talented Brazilian designer who isn’t very well-known yet. But being one of the first to talk about him is a true honour.
His name is Gaspard Hex and he is in his early 20s; after working as a musician, he decided to take a more adventurous journey into the world of dark jewellery with an almost shamanistic imprint. Linking the past and the present is the common thread of his pieces and he has connected with a universe in which post-industrial ruins and primal nature have become one. He experiments with his technique based on the destruction of nature and eternal rebirth.
The shapes are raw, primordial, even elementary, but the construction of the objects, in silver and bronze with pyramid crystals and meteorite effects are sculptural, innovative and bold. Gaspard creates his pieces with an eye to mythology but looks towards the future. He is successful because of his consistency and originality.
