An all-Italian talent from London’s Central Saint Martins presents a brand new collection entirely inspired by Oriental culture entitled, ‘No Rice. No Life‘. Launching for the first time on the international jewellery market, the creative mind and guiding hand behind the collection is young jewellery designer Beatrice Bongiasca.
A line of already iconic necklaces, tiny rings, earrings and bracelets with the recurring symbol of a grain of rice, ‘No Rice. No Life’ explores that which is considered precious within Eastern and Western cultures through the mediums of rice – long considered an essential resource and symbol of life in Oriental culture – and pearls, which instead stand for wellbeing and high social status. The pieces are conceived as tiny imaginative artworks that Bongiasca develops through intuition, allowing vision to take a primary role in the design process. The collection will be on sale at 10 Corso Como in Milan, Seoul, Shanghai and Beijing, and presented as part of the Design section at Art Basel at Miami (December 4–7).
